This study aims to determine (1) is a significant difference
learning method Numbered Head Together (NHT) and the method of discovery, (2) a
significant difference to learn mathematics achievement when viewed from the
motivation to study, (3) the interaction between teaching methods and
motivation learning students to learn mathematics achievement. Population
research is all student at class VIII SMP Purwantoro 3 consisting of 4 classes.
Samples taken as many as 72 students are divided into 2 classes of classes
VIII-C by 36 students as the control class and class VIII-D by 36 students as a
classroom experiment with the sample-making technique is random sampling technique.
Data collection techniques using test methods for student learning outcome
data, questionnaire methods for motivation to study the data and documentation
methods to determine the value of the first semester math exams that students
used to test the balance between experimental classes and control classes.
Requirements analysis test conducted by testing for normality and homogeneity
tests. Data analysis technique using a = 5% indicates (1) Fcalculated = 9.407 > Ftable
= 3.986 so that H0 is rejected which means that there are
differences in the type of cooperative learning and learning NHT discovery
methods, (2) Fcalculated = 7.021 > Ftable = 3.136 that
H0 is rejected, which means there is a difference to learning
mathematics achievement when viewed from the motivation to study, (3) Fcalculated
= 0.834 < Ftable = 3.136 so that H0 is accepted, which
means there is no interaction between teaching methods and motivation to study
for math learning achievement.
Keywords: NHT learning, discovery learning, student’s
learning motivation, learning mathematics achievement.
